An overview of our application process

Our application process varies from role to role, but here’s a broad overview of what you can expect if you apply to join us as an experienced lawyer or business services professional.

If you’d like to join us on a student scheme, as an apprentice or as a graduate, please visit our CMS Early Talent website


If your initial application is successful, we’ll invite you to attend at least one interview. Usually, we hold first and second interviews but for some roles, there could be more. 


You might also be invited to undertake an assessment – this could take the form of a sector-specific technical test, a psychometric test or an ability-based skills test. We may ask you to deliver a presentation too. 


Impress us, and we’ll make you a formal offer – this will be sent electronically, so it’s very quick and easy to respond to us.


Regardless of whether your application was successful, you’ll have the opportunity to receive constructive feedback from our interviewers.


If you accept an offer from us, our talent acquisition team will guide you through all the offer documentation required. You’ll be asked to complete an online health survey and pre-employment screening checks which will include, but not limited to, employment referencing, qualification checks, credit and a criminal checks whereby an application for a DBS certification will be submitted. The talent acquisition team will be on hand to answer any questions you have throughout the onboarding process so that you feel confident and prepared when you start. You’ll also be assigned a buddy who can offer you support and answer any of your team-specific questions both before and after you join us.

Every new joiner has a welcome introduction from our managers, our Human Resources team and their peers, as well as receiving a tailored training plan and getting access to our online training platforms and knowledge hubs.
