Ágnes is a senior associate at our Budapest office, who specializes in intellectual property (IP) and commercial matters. 

She has experience in dealing with a wide range of IP (especially copyrights, trademarks) and IP dispute resolution/litigation matters, representing clients before the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, WIPO, EUIPO, the ordinary courts and out-of-court organisations, handling infringement cases in digital and offline environment, assisting clients in relation to the optimisation and safeguard of their international IP portfolio, harmonisation and coordination of copyright levy payments on European level; negotiations with collective management organisations. 

Ágnes has significant experience in advising clients from the TMT sector.

Relevant experience

  • Microsoft Corporation in coordinating blank media copyright levy issues on European level and in negotiating copyright issues with the Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights; and Microsoft Hungary in negotiating, drafting IP license agreements relevant for the operation of the company and IP legal advisory tasks on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, advice concerning the interpretation of ECJ case.
  • CLT-UFA S.A. on the acquisition of a group of television channels – a unique, standalone acquisition in the media and telecommunication sector in Hungary - including all IP related matters, transfer of IP, trademark, and domain names in the course of the transaction. Successfully represented the client in an infringement dispute going on with a major competitor. Managing the client’s national and European trademark portfolio.
  • Magyar RTL Televízió on a lawsuit and two related opposition procedures before the Hungarian IP Office and the EUIPO going on against its main competitor in relation to certain copyright, trademark and competition issues. Advised the client on various IP and general commercial law matters.
  • Magyar Telekom on day-to-day IP matters and advice on the acquisition of a wide range of copyright and neighbouring right protected contents (e.g. television channels for distribution, television programs for broadcast on the client's television channel). Advising the client in relation optimization of IP portfolio.
  • Samsung Electronics on negotiations and disputes regarding copyright levies with the Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights and the Reprographic Society, domain dispute procedures before various out-of-court organisations, day-to-day IP advice in relation to web shops, drafting license agreements. Advised the client in relation to enforcing its IP rights both online and offline; drafting proper IP agreements to be used with their commercial partners.
  • Syngenta AG on a major patent infringement lawsuit against different infringers and the related customs and enforcement procedure. Assisting the client in managing its custom monitoring applications.
  • GE in providing IP related advice in the Hungarian implementation of a huge cross-border transaction affecting the relocation of part of the portfolio.   
  • Partner in Pet Food on day-to-day IP matters. Assisting the client during optimization and safeguard of their trademark portfolio in e.g. opposition procedures and negotiations.

Ágnes is a senior associate at our Budapest office, who specialises in commercial and intellectual property matters. 

She has significant experience in corporate and commercial matters, having advised major international companies on a whole range of legal issues including providing day-to-day advice, corporate and M&A, data privacy and dispute resolution. Ágnes has also undertaken complex commercial and regulatory assignments and recently acted as interim general counsel for Microsoft handling all local and international projects and legal issues. She has particular experience in managing multi-jurisdictional projects and coordinating a team of lawyers servicing clients on a global scale.

In addition, she has valuable experience advising and representing clients active in the TMT, manufacturing and energy sectors.

  • Microsoft on a wide array of commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and providing advice across a broad range of subject matters such as issues regarding data protection, IT, intellectual property, regulatory, and compliance.
  • M-RTL (Bertelsmann Group subsidiary) in e-signature and electronic contracting issues, elaborating the strategy and legal framework of using e-signatures in online and electronic contracting in employment and civil law agreements and legal statements.
