Máté is a senior associate in the Energy, Projects & Construction team at CMS Budapest, with extensive experience in the energy sector, especially oil and gas, as well as construction and infrastructure.

Before joining CMS, Máté gained significant in-house experience at a leading integrated energy company, where he advised on group-level downstream projects, waste management operations, and exploration and production activities across multiple jurisdictions.

Before this, he worked at leading international law firms, where he developed strong expertise in real estate transactions, project finance and due diligence processes.

Máté has substantial experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial and EPC contracts, advising on regulatory matters, and handling warranty and guarantee claims.

Relevant experience

  • In-house experience advising on group-level downstream projects and waste management operations, including drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial and EPC contracts relating to complex industrial facilities, as well as negotiations with international licensors regarding industrial licences.
  • In-house experience in supporting offshore and onshore projects and transactions across multiple jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, Angola, Hungary, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Iraq. 
  • Experience in advising on complex real estate transactions, including share purchase agreements, escrow arrangements, lease agreements, and construction, development and asset management documentation, as well as the establishment of real estate funds and REIT structures. 
  • Participating in real estate transactions, including the preparation of due diligence reports, commercial agreements and corporate documentation.

  • Master of Law, University of Szeged, Hungary.
  • Scholarship, University of Bergen, Norway (specialising in International Energy Law and Competition Law).
