Sándor is a Senior Counsel in the finance practice group at CMS Budapest. 

He graduated from Szeged University and also obtained a master’s degree diploma in European Law from the University of Lyon III Jean – Moulin. 

He has experience in financial regulatory matters, project financing transactions, syndicated financing matters and has assisted blue-chip Hungarian, European and US financial institutions. He has also gained considerable knowledge in representing financial institutions in litigations before the Hungarian courts and in financial licensing and supervising procedures. 

His expertise includes capital and derivatives-related transactions and he has assisted several private equity funds (including venture capital funds) in various licensing procedures from registration through operation to dissolution.

Relevant experience

  • A real estate investment company:
    • on setting up a fund management company and establishing a real estate investment fund, both unique structures which required complex regulatory expertise;
    • on acquisition financing for a student accommodation project that was the first on the Hungarian market.
  • A major real estate development company:
    • on financing for a major office building in Budapest;
    • on refinancing for two prominent office buildings in Budapest: Center Point and Duna Tower.
  • A major commercial bank:
    • on the complex restructuring of Energott Group, a major player in the energy sector that is owned by local governments and private individuals;
    • on financing for WING, one of the largest Hungarian real estate developers. This was significant acquisition financing whereby WING acquired further office buildings at Infopark;
  • Raiffeisen Bank on financing numerous industrial, hotel and office buildings, including:
    • the Liget Centre, a prominent office building in Budapest;
    • the equity refinancing of the “Krisztina Palace”, a modern and energy efficient office building in the centre of Buda.
  • AXA Insurance on the 100% sale of shares in its life insurance business in Hungary to Vienna Insurance Group.
  • OTP Bank:
    • on financing for a major biomass producer group;
    • on the acquisition of a property in downtown Budapest and financing to redevelop a 4-star boutique hotel within the framework of Funding for Growth Scheme of National Bank of Hungary;
    • on financing for the construction and operation of a 4-star hotel in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, within the framework of Funding for Growth Scheme of National Bank of Hungary.
  • K&H Bank on refinancing for a market-leading pharmaceutical company.
  • Eximbank on reviewing bank guarantees in the insolvency of a major construction company.
