Navigating AI Risks in the insurance sector: a practical workshop
Event details
Programme
08 Apr 2026
CMS and Oxera are pleased to invite you to the seminar on the intersection of AI, regulation and commercial strategy in the insurance sector.
About the event
As insurers increasingly use AI-driven pricing models, they face a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. Under the EU AI Act, AI systems intended to be used for risk assessment and pricing in relation to natural persons in the case of life and health insurance, are classified as high‑risk, triggering new compliance and governance requirements.
In this interactive workshop, experts from CMS and Oxera combine legal and economic perspectives to explore the practical challenges of AI-driven insurance pricing, using a real‑world case study on dynamic pricing.
Participants will gain insight into:
- A joint CMS and Oxera analysis covering legal, economic and governance risks;
- Interactive discussions and live polling on topics such as unfairness, commercial versus ethical trade‑offs, and board‑level decision‑making on complex AI systems;
- Practical takeaways on evidence standards, liability exposure and governance design for immediate implementation.
Key themes
- What the EU AI Act means in practice for pricing models;
- Liability and accountability for AI-related harm;
- Managing and overseeing complex 'black box' models;
- Aligning commercial objectives with regulatory requirements.
