Maria Figueiredo has written an opinion piece for Jornal Económico on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), in which she analyses the impact it will have on businesses and supply chains.
Warning companies of what is set to happen from the end of 2026, the Counsel at CMS Portugal explains what they need to prepare immediately: “What needs to be prepared? Mapping the entire supply chain, obtaining georeferenced data for plots, testing the declaration system, reviewing compliance and audit clauses with suppliers, building a risk matrix by country/raw material (product) and training teams. Those who start today will have a competitive advantage as they welcome in the new year. Do you still think this doesn’t apply to your company?”
