Patrick Dewerbe, Tax Partner at CMS Portugal, participated as a speaker in the workshop “EU–India Agreement – What will change for Portuguese companies?”, organised by AICEP and held online on 24 April 2026.

The session aimed to analyse the main implications of the future Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and India for Portuguese companies, at a time when India’s growing relevance in the global economy is creating new opportunities for international expansion and market diversification.

Topics discussed during the workshop included the framework of the agreement and its outlook for Portugal, customs and tax impacts for businesses, as well as the key challenges and opportunities associated with the Indian market.

During his intervention, Patrick Dewerbe addressed the main tax and customs implications that the agreement may bring for Portuguese companies, highlighting relevant considerations for SMEs operating internationally or looking to expand into India.

The initiative resulted from a partnership between AICEP and CMS Portugal, bringing together specialists to reflect on business opportunities in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
