CMS Portugal and LBR debate the new Angolan General Labour Law

CMS Portugal and its associated law firm in Angola, LBR Advogados, held an event yesterday, in Luanda, on the theme: "What to expect from the new Angolan General Labour Law?".

Alberto Galhardo Simões, partner and coordinator of CMS Portugal's Lusophone Africa Team, and Luís Borba Rodrigues, partner of LBR, opened the event addressing the main changes introduced by the new Labour Law with an impact on employers and employees.

This was followed by a keynote address by the Secretary of State for Labour and Social Security, Dr. Pedro Filipe, who shared the main innovations and structuring principles of the new General Labour Law.

The first Roundtable was moderated by LBR partner Silvino Domingos, and discussed the topic "New forms of work and new forms of employment contract in Angola", with the following speakers: Maria João Escrevente - Human Resources Director, Unitel, Angola; and Valdeque Borges - Legal Director, Odebrecht, Africa/Portugal/Emirates.

In the second Roundtable moderated by Richad Majid - Associate in the Lusophone Africa Team at CMS Portugal, the discussion was on the topic of "Remuneration and termination of employment contracts". The speakers were Agostinho Xavier - Legal Counsel, Azule Energy, Angola; Bruno Branco - Human Resources Director, Lassarat International Group; and Neide Teixeira - Executive Director, Father's Office, Angola.

The event was closed by LBR’s partner, Silvino Domingos.
