CMS Portugal has reinforced its Equity Partners team with Margarida Vila Franca, from the Corporate M&A area, Nuno Figueirôa Santos, from the Tax Law area, and Sofia Mateus from Labour Law & Pension Funds.

Margarida Vila Franca, partner in the Corporate M&A practice area, has focused her practice on advising on acquisitions, public offerings, mergers and other corporate reorganisations, both domestic and cross-border, with experience in a wide range of sectors. She has also regularly advised domestic and foreign clients, operating in Portugal in the financial services sector, on financial regulatory issues. She also assists many corporate clients on a day-to-day basis, in particular foreign groups operating in Portugal, providing legal advice on corporate compliance, corporate governance and other corporate law matters.
Nuno Figueirôa Santos, Tax Law Partner, providing tax consulting and planning advice to national and international companies operating in all economic sectors, such as financial services, energy, healthcare, communications and real estate. He advises corporate clients on structuring M&A transactions, as well as national and international private clients on the legal and tax structuring of their investments and wealth.
Sofia Mateus, partner in the Labour Law & Pension Funds practice, has developed her work in staff restructuring, namely, respective coordination, implementation and harmonisation of employment conditions. She has extensive experience conducting collective redundancy processes. She is an expert in accompanying and representing clients in the negotiation and revision of collective bargaining agreements, relations with employees’ representative structures, namely trade unions and workers' councils. She also provides day-to-day labour advice to national and international clients, particularly in the financial, insurance, industrial, construction, aviation, retail, pharmaceutical and services sectors.
