Tarynne is a Senior Associate in the Employment and Labour Team at CMS South Africa.

She has a wide range of experience in employment and labour matters, ranging from advising employers on executive exits and other dismissals, restructuring including transfers of employment and retrenchments, and various other aspects of employment law – whether related to contracts or policies of employment, employment risks related to fixed term contracts, temporary employment services, or working time. 

She has worked with clients in various industries including banks and financial services, consumer goods, defence and rail. She also has experience in labour disputes including at the CCMA and at the Labour Court.

Relevant experience

  • Advising employers on exits, disciplinary hearings and disputes with senior executives including CEO’s and CFO’s. 
  • Assisting in advising employers on large scale and small-scale retrenchments.
  • Advising employers on transfers of employment in terms of section 197.
  • Part of a team enforcing a restraint of trade application in the Labour Court.
  • Advising employers on terms and conditions of employment including working hours and overtime. 
  • Advising employers on temporary employment services and fixed term contracts. 
  • Advising employers on instances of harassment including racial and sexual harassment. 
  • Advising employers on various issues related to misconduct, poor performance and incapacity dismissals, including vaccination dismissals.
  • Part of team assisting the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors in prosecuting disciplinary proceedings against auditors.
  • Advising on investigations, reporting employee conduct in terms of PRECCA and withholding of pension funds. 
  • Advising on and preparing policies and contracts of employment.
