Thomas Liegl is an associate at CMS Vienna, where he primarily works in the practice areas of insolvency and restructuring law, as well as corporate law and M&A. His advisory work focuses on national and international corporate restructuring, general insolvency law, national and international transactions (including distressed transactions), and general corporate law.
Thomas Liegl graduated top of his class with a Master’s degree in Business Law from the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2020. During his studies, he participated in an Erasmus exchange at the Université Paris Dauphine and successfully took part in the Franz von Zeiller Moot Court in civil law. In 2026, he completed his PhD in Business Law, which he had studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business with a dissertation on corporate restructuring law.
In addition to his several years’ experience in advising on insolvency, restructuring and company law, he gained professional experience in the IT and property sectors whilst still a student.
Thomas Liegl has been working at CMS since 2020, with interruptions for training. In 2024, he passed the bar exam with distinction.
