CMS Sofia successfully assisted Chirpan Solar Plant Ltd, part of the PPC Bulgaria group, in obtaining a generation license from the Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
The licensing decision was granted by the EWRC in February 2026.
The project sites, which are located in Chirpan Municipality, Stara Zagora Province, involve the construction and development of a large-scale photovoltaic power plant with installed capacity of 120 MW. In its first phase, the project will also feature a battery energy storage system with 55 MWh capacity.
CMS Sofia team provided full legal support throughout the licensing process, including regulatory compliance, preparation of the application, and coordination with the EWRC, highlighting the firm’s expertise in energy law and renewable project development.
