CMS Sofia has assisted in the successful licensing of 35 MW Sredets Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Electricity Storage System (BESS) located in Sredets municipality in Bulgaria by the Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC). The main investor in the project is German company SaxEnergy GMbH & Co, KG.
CMS provided regulatory and legal support during all stages of the preparatory process for the licensing of the PV and BESS project before EWRC, with the CMS team appearing during the open hearings at EWRC and addressing all additional requests raised by the Bulgarian regulator.
As the financing and the EPC contract are underway, it is expected that the Sredets project will be put in operation by the end of 2026.
Kostadin Sirleshtov, CMS Sofia Managing Partner, commented: “Licensing of Sredets PV and BESS project is an important milestone for its successful implementation. It is great to see yet another German investor for the Bulgarian renewable energy sector. We are very much looking forward to seeing the project delivering electricity to the grid by the end of the year. Congratulations to all involved!”
The CMS Sofia team was led by Kostadin Sirleshtov, Managing Partner at CMS Sofia, and included Elena Yotova-Yordanova, Viktoriya Dimitrova-Toneva, Lyuba Bozova-Peshovska and Niya Ivanova (EPC).
