Hamburg – Antin Infrastructure Partners (“Antin”) has acquired a majority stake in Blue Elephant Energy AG (“BEE”) via its flagship Fund V. The deal is aimed at supporting BEE’s growth strategy.
Hamburg-based BEE is a renewable energy producer focused on developing, acquiring, and operating solar plants and wind farms in Europe and Latin America. Since it was established in 2016, BEE has seen strong growth, enabled by its fast-scaling platform. The company operates 67 solar and 13 wind power plants across eight countries, with a power generation capacity of around 1.3 GW. BEE also has an extensive secured project pipeline. In addition to the management team, the founding and major shareholders Blue Elephant Venture GmbH, Jahr Assetmanagement GmbH and ATHOS also remain on board at BEE, thus sending a strong signal of consistency and continuity.
A team from CMS advised BEE and its shareholders on all aspects of the transaction. The company relies on the expertise of CMS on a regular basis.
BEE is the first investment by Antin’s Fund V. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2022 and is currently awaiting the customary approval from the authorities.
