Munich – The clean-tech start-up DACMA GmbH has secured further funding to accelerate Direct Air Capture (DAC) through an investment by Repsol Energy Venture S.A. With this partnership, Repsol and DACMA are embarking on a shared journey to achieve the ambitious climate goals for 2050.

A CMS team headed by Dr Jessica Mohaupt-Schneider and Tobias Kalski advised DACMA on all legal aspects of the investment.

DACMA GmbH was founded in 2020 by Jörg Spitzner. The Hamburg based start-up manufactures and sells smart machines which capture carbon dioxide from the ambient air - Direct Air Capture (DAC). In December 2022, DACMA has launched a first DAC project in Brazil to capture 300 tons of carbon per year to demonstrate the viability of DAC technology. DACMA will provide solid capture technology as part of this project. Another DAC project in Brazil has been launched in Salvador, state of Bahia, with a feasibility study for 5,000 tons of carbon per year for permanent storage in basalt geological mineralization under the rainforest.

Repsol Energy Venture S.A. is the corporate investment vehicle of the Spanish group Repsol, focusing inter alia on investments in the low-carbon circular economy.
