Düsseldorf/Cologne – Infrastructure group HOCHTIEF and infrastructure fund Palladio have formed a joint venture to develop efficient data centres in Germany. The two parties are investing a low three-digit million amount in the joint venture to develop sites for decentralised data centres. Business conurbations such as the Rhine-Ruhr region are the main targets for the data centres. HOCHTIEF will identify suitable sites, construct the data centres and operate them long term. Further details of the transaction were not disclosed.
A CMS team headed by partners Philipp Schönnenbeck and Dr Malte Bruhns advised HOCHTIEF and Palladio on all legal aspects of the transaction as project counsel. In addition to the joint venture agreement, the advice included legal and tax issues relating to the development, construction and operation of the proposed data centres.
