Berlin – The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Breakthrough Energy Catalyst have provided a EUR 70 million funding package through the EU Catalyst Partnership to Ineratec, a Karlsruhe-based company specialising in the production of e-fuels. The EIB is providing venture-debt-loan of up to EUR 40 million, supported by the EU's InvestEU programme, while Breakthrough Energy Catalyst is awarding a EUR 30 million grant, subject to certain funding conditions being met. The package will support the financing of Ineratec's carbon-neutral e-fuel production plant in Frankfurt, as well as further research and development. The Frankfurt plant will be the largest in Europe when it opens in 2025.
A CMS team advised Ineratec on all legal aspects of this financing round. Ineratec is a long-standing CMS client.
Ineratec stands for defossilisation and decarbonisation. The company produces e-fuels and e-chemicals: carbon-neutral substitutes for fossil fuels that are used in the aviation, shipping and chemical industries.
