Leipzig – The shareholders in Notion Systems GmbH, a leading supplier of industrial inkjet printing systems for functional inks, have sold a majority stake to the Advanced Manufacturing unit of RSBG SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the RAG-Stiftung foundation. This makes Notion Systems a sister company of Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH and SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH. The four founders of Notion Systems will remain with the company as shareholders and CEOs. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Jochen Lux advised the shareholders of Notion Systems on all legal aspects of the transaction.
Michael Doran, founder of Notion Systems: “We would like to thank CMS for their professional support throughout the sales process. CMS guided us as shareholders reliably and efficiently through the process, with a strong focus on the essentials.”
Notion Systems is a leading supplier of industrial inkjet printing systems for functional materials. The n.jet inkjet platform is used to produce electronic displays, printed circuit boards, semiconductor components and high-precision optical 3D parts. Drawing on decades of experience, the company brings precision inkjet systems to market and scales digital printing processes from the lab to industrial production for leading global customers. Notion Systems is based in Schwetzingen near Heidelberg. It works with leading sales and service organisations worldwide, with a focus on Asia, Europe and North America.
Established in 2014, investment company RSBG sees itself as a long-term partner for SMEs. Accordingly, the company uses a buy-and-build strategy to invest in successful SME firms. RSBG SE holds majority stakes in companies across the four business areas of Infrastructure; Automation & Robotics; Information & Communication; and Advanced Manufacturing. The investment in Notion Systems complements the product range of Heidelberg Instruments, one of the leading suppliers of maskless laser lithography systems for the production of microstructures, and also that of SPECS. The move thus represents a strategic expansion of the Advanced Manufacturing unit.
