Munich – Family-owned firm Pfeifer & Langen has taken a majority stake in Rügenwalder Mühle, a branded manufacturer that is considered a pioneer in vegetarian/vegan alternatives to meat and sausages and is now among the market leaders in Germany in this segment. Rügenwalder Mühle is partnering with Pfeifer & Langen for the next stage in its corporate journey. The latter has been operating in the food and beverage industry since 1870, developing many brands and companies across a range of segments and taking them international. In organisational terms, completion of the deal will see Rügenwalder Mühle become part of The Nature’s Richness Group, the new food division created by Pfeifer & Langen IHKG in recent years. Both “Rügenwalder Mühle” and “endori” will be retained as independent brands going forward.
The parties have not disclosed the details of the investment. Acquisition of the majority stake is currently awaiting approval from the relevant competition authorities.
A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Michael Wangemann advised the shareholder of Rügenwalder Mühle on all legal aspects of selling the majority interest.
