CMS advises SaxonQ on investment by Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen

Leipzig – Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS) has invested a seven-figure sum in SaxonQ GmbH, a pioneer in the field of mobile quantum computing. With this investment, TGFS is providing targeted impetus and strengthening the deep-tech company in the development and scaling phase. At the same time, SaxonQ is preparing a major financing round to miniaturise its own technology down to chip size and to further develop the production technology required for this. Active use of the technology and recent awards underscore the excellent starting position for further growth.

A CMS team led by Dr Jörg Lips and Dr Kevin Schmidt advised SaxonQ on the legal structuring of the TGFS investment and is supporting the company in this crucial growth phase. "CMS provided us with highly professional and expert support in all legal aspects, making a decisive contribution to the successful completion of the investment. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the planned major investment round and recommend CMS without hesitation," said Dr Frank Schlichting, CEO of SaxonQ.

SaxonQ is a deep-tech company founded in Leipzig in 2021 and develops mobile quantum computers based on diamond chips with NV technology, which – unlike many other quantum technologies – do not require complex cooling and ultra-stable laboratory environments and can be operated at room temperature.

TGFS provides technology-orientated start-ups with the equity capital they need for further growth. The fund was first launched in 2008 by the Free State of Saxony (including ERDF funds) and Saxon financial institutions and has provided support to over 100 start-ups since then.
