Stuttgart – The shareholders of ATTO-TEC and ATTO Patent have sold their directly and indirectly held shares in the two companies with their registered offices in Siegen, Germany to Leica Microsystems Holdings GmbH, a German subsidiary of the transnational conglomerate Danaher Corporation with its registered office in Washington D.C., USA.
A CMS team led by partner Dr Maximilian Grub was closely involved in the transaction and provided comprehensive legal advice to the shareholders of ATTO-TEC and ATTO Patent.
ATTO-TEC GmbH was founded in 1999 as a start-up from the University of Siegen. ATTO-TEC is a leading supplier of fluorescent dyes and reagents for medical and biological applications. ATTO-TEC offers customers worldwide customised solutions across the entire visible spectral range. ATTO dyes have established themselves as the standard for imaging in fluorescence microscopy. Their brightness and photostability make them the preferred reagents for demanding applications.
Leica Microsystems, a subsidiary of Danaher Corporation, develops and supplies fully integrated solutions for microscopic imaging and scientific instruments for analysing micro and nanostructures. Leica Microsystems is a market leader in compound and stereomicroscopy, digital microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy with associated imaging systems including AI-based image analysis, electron microscope sample preparation and surgical microscopes. The ATTO dyes and reagents for sample preparation complement Leica's renowned portfolio of microscopy imaging platforms and advanced AI-based analysis software. With this acquisition, Leica Microsystems aims to improve imaging processes and research results, particularly in cancer research.
