CMS advises US technology company Bruker on acquisition of ACQUIFER

Frankfurt/Main – Bruker Corporation, a NASDAQ-listed US tech company, has acquired ACQUIFER, a joint venture between ACQUIFER Imaging GmbH and Deltabyte GmbH, which are both based in Heidelberg. ACQUIFER is a pioneer in big-data management solutions for bioimaging and high-content microscopy. ACQUIFER’s flagship HIVE product is a high-end centralised workstation for image processing, high-performance computing, deep learning, and big-data storage. It was developed to keep up with the ever-increasing amount of data that life science research can generate. This acquisition complements Bruker’s fluorescence microscopy imaging products. Bruker can now offer a holistic solution for advanced imaging and big-data management. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Hendrik Hirsch advised Bruker on all legal aspects of the transaction. Bruker is a longstanding CMS client. It has been advised by CMS on several acquisitions and disposals in the past, most recently on the partnership with Swiss proteomics technology company Biognosys AG.
