Hamburg – Wirsol Solar AG has sold a 16 MW solar park in Bavaria. Headquartered in Waghäusel near Karlsruhe, the company sold the facility to Weiden's municipal utility company, municipal utility company Floss, energy citizen cooperative ZENO and several other private investors from the region. Wirsol constructed the modern solar power plant just under a year ago on the 36 hectare site of a former gravel quarry near Grafenwöhr. It remains a limited partner with 1.6% of the shares.
A team led by Dr Niklas Ganssauge advised Wirsol on all legal aspects of the sale to the municipal and private investors from the region. CMS Hasche Sigle has been providing support to Wirsol Solar AG on the project for one and a half years, from acquisition of the project rights through project development and construction to the sale of the park. The law firm has been advising a range of project developers, manufacturers, investors and banks on German and international projects in the renewable energy field for over ten years. "We are delighted with the way our relationship with Wirsol Solar AG has developed over the past few years. It is built on mutual trust and great teamwork," said Dr Niklas Ganssauge.
Wirsol has been involved in planning, financing, installing and maintaining photovoltaic power plants for private households, industrial customers and investors since 2003. A total of 270 employees in 13 countries generated sales of EUR 317 million in 2011. The solar park in Grafenwöhr, the largest of its kind in the Upper Palatinate region with a rated output of 16 MW, comprises more than 65,000 photovoltaic modules. By producing climate-neutral electricity for more than 3,600 families, they yield annual CO2 savings of 11,200 tonnes.
