The cartel authorities of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate recently abandoned their action against
four of the gas providers represented by CMS Hasche Sigle. In January 2006 the Rhineland-Palatinate
cartel authorities filed actions against a total of 10 of the region's gas providers on the grounds
of alleged abusive practices associated with excessively high gas prices and demanded price
reductions. In February and March 2006 CMS Hasche Sigle submitted comprehensive statements for each
of the four gas suppliers, including Stadtwerke Pirmasens Versorgungs GmbH and Stadtwerke
Frankenthal GmbH, refuting the suspicion that they held dominant market positions. The cartel
authorities discontinued the proceedings with immediate effect. The four gas providers were
represented Dr Christian Haellmigk from CMS Hasche Sigle's Stuttgart office.
In summer of 2005 CMS Hasche Sigle also successfully moved the cartel authorities of the Land
Hesse to discontinue proceedings against six of the region's gas providers in which Mainova AG
(Frankfurt) was represented by Dr Harald Kahlenberg and Dr Christian Haellmigk (both of CMS Hasche
Sigle, Stuttgart); Stadtwerke Hanau GmbH, Stadtwerke Haiger, Stadtwerke Herborn GmbH, Gasversorgung
Main-Kinzig GmbH (Gelnhausen) and Gasversorgung Rüsselsheim GmbH were represented by Dr Christian
Haellmigk alone.
