The Cologne office of the national and international commercial law firm, CMS Hasche Sigle, has moved into Kranhaus 1 at Cologne's Rheinauhafen. More than 200 staff, including 86 lawyers, now work on the 9th to 12th floors of the Kranhaus in the Rheinauhafen.
Dr Hendrik Schindler, managing partner in the Cologne office, is delighted with the spectacular, new residence: "A stroke of luck for the firm, the staff and the clients." The 26 partners in the office are particularly taken with the new client area. The 600 m² conference area above the roof-tops of the city can be altered according to needs into up to 8 meeting rooms from where there is a spectacular view of the city and its cathedral. "We are very pleased with our new working environment. Our move to this prominent and highly sought after location is an important step into the future and is a source of great
motivation for the staff", says Dr Schindler.
During the move 60,000 files (i.e. 5.5 kilometres of filing cabinets), 2,200 m³ of removal goods packed in 6,500 removal boxes) moved to the new location in 80 lorry-loads. 5000 m² of carpeting and 600 m² of parquet flooring were laid on the office floor totalling 6400 m² in area. Part of the new premises is also high above the Rhine in the 625 m² "highest cellar" in Cologne on the 9th floor where the firm keeps its archives and trademark files.
Kranhaus 1 has a breathtaking architectural charm. Three of the four storeys occupied by CMS Hasche Sigle project across the Rhine at a dizzying height. The new CMS offices, along with the neighbouring Kranhäuser North and South, the bench (EA Sports) and RheinauArtOfffice (Microsoft), are at the centre of a unique architectural mix of historic dock warehouses and modern buildings. The shape of the Cologne Kranhäuser evokes the trading traditions of the Rhine metropolis.
The professional expertise of the CMS lawyers continues this tradition. The Cologne law firm is one of the leading full-service law firms for corporate law. "Our specialist teams cover all relevant areas ranging from corporate law, commercial, corporate and transaction law, through employment law to competition and media law", explains Dr Schindler. The Cologne office is also well-known for its expertise in specialist areas such as banking and insurance, and for its advice relating to PPP projects (public private partnerships) between the public sector and private companies.
CMS Hasche Sigle was in its previous offices on the Theodor-Heuss Ring for 22 years. Founded in 1925, the law firm established a name for itself, especially in the second half of the last century, as a respected commercial law firm. Under the name of its senior partners, Heydt Vieregge & Partner, it was one of the first to merge with German law firms from other areas of Germany at the end of the 80s. In 2005, the entire Cologne office merged with CMS Hasche Sigle.
