Dirk Schauer becomes new head of Private Clients division at CMS Germany

Stuttgart – Dr Dirk Schauer has been appointed as new head of the Private Clients division at international commercial law firm CMS Germany. He succeeds Hans Christian Blum, who made a significant contribution to shaping the division during his ten years in the role. Blum now heads the international Private Clients practice group at CMS, together with Dimitar Hadjiveltchev (CMS France).

Dirk Schauer joined CMS as a lawyer in 2012 and has been a partner since the beginning of 2021. As an inheritance law specialist, he focuses on national and cross-border corporate and wealth succession as well as foundation law. He advises in particular on the structuring, protection and succession of private and business assets. With a doctorate in foundation law, Dirk Schauer counts business owners, business families, family offices and high net worth individuals among his clients, including a growing number of successful start-up entrepreneurs and international professional athletes.

The Private Clients practice at CMS Germany advises high net worth individuals and business owners on all legal and tax matters related to their private wealth and business assets. The division covers corporate and estate succession planning, foundations, asset structuring and wealth protection as well as the amicable and contentious settlement of complex estates and the execution of wills.

The Private Clients practice is integrated into the firm’s full-service approach and can draw on the proven expertise of more than 650 fee earners across all related areas, from tax law and corporate law to exotic disciplines such as art law. At international level, the practice is part of the international CMS organisation, comprising law firms in more than 40 countries and over 4,800 lawyers. This is a key differentiator, especially when advising on cross-border succession planning and estate settlement.
