Hamburg – The corporate law firm CMS is strengthening its Restructuring & Insolvency practice in Hamburg and expanding its partnership with Vanja Alexander Kovacev as of 1 January 2026. Together with Kovacev, a team of six will join CMS, including lawyers Sonja Welzel and Lorenz Schuwerack, as well as other insolvency specialists.

Vanja Alexander Kovacev will work with the CMS teams to develop and share responsibility for expanding CMS's insolvency practice in Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein. Kovacev has been a specialising in insolvency and restructuring law for many years, most recently as an insolvency administrator for BBL Brockdorff. He is primarily appointed by insolvency courts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein as an expert witness, insolvency administrator, supervisor and trustee. He also acts as a restructuring consultant and authorised representative in self-administration proceedings and advises clients in insolvency proceedings and insolvency plan proceedings.

"Vanja Alexander Kovacev is an ideal addition to our advisory practice with court-appointed insolvency administration in northern and north-eastern Germany," said Dr Alexandra Schluck-Amend, partner and head of the Restructuring & Insolvency practice area. Partner Joachim Kühne added: "With the addition of Vanja Alexander Kovacev, we are gaining a promising young insolvency administrator for CMS who has an excellent network in the field of restructuring and is already well established in the market."

In view of the increasing transformation requirements in companies, the Restructuring & Insolvency practice area was expanded last year with the addition of partner Dr Susann Brackmann. Brackmann heads the insolvency law practice at CMS's Hamburg office. "Strengthening our Restructuring & Insolvency practice area is a logical continuation of our growth strategy at CMS. The transformation requirements in companies are increasing, and we look forward to working with Vanja Alexander Kovacev and his team to successfully

implement well-organised restructuring and continuation solutions for our clients in the future," commented Managing Partner Dr Martin Vorsmann.
