Julia Menke specialises in providing legal advice before, during and after insolvency proceedings. Her clients include German and international corporate groups with German subsidiaries or contractual partners, as well as external insolvency administrators. She assists creditors in asserting rights during insolvencies and in defending against avoidance claims. She also provides preventive advice to creditors to help them mitigate risks in the event of a contractual partner's insolvency, for example by drafting insolvency-proof contracts or general terms and conditions. Debtor-side she, among others, advises on the avoidance of liability risks for managing directors and on the restructuring and liquidation of subsidiaries. Her practice furthermore focusses on advising international seller and buyer companies in the context of distressed M&A transactions, which includes deals of different sizes.
Julia joined CMS in 2021. Julia is also member of the editorial board of the Neue Zeitschrift für Insolvenzrecht, a leading German journal on insolvency law.
