Nabarro has announced today the lateral hire of three partners to its Infrastructure, Construction & Energy (ICE) team. Two heavyweight non-contentious construction partners, David Parton and Chris Hallam, will join the team in London and Manchester respectively. In addition Lucy Plowright, a rising star in international infrastructure and PPP projects, will join the London team as a partner.

David Parton joins the firm’s London office early in February from Irwin Mitchell where he was head of construction. He will lead Nabarro’s non-contentious construction practice and specialises in advising major developers and purchaser-side clients on non-contentious construction and infrastructure projects. Having worked on a wide range of international construction projects, David also has experience of the Middle East which will complement the work of the Nabarro team in Dubai.

Chris Hallam will join from Pinsent Masons where he was a partner in their transactional construction team. He will establish and lead an ICE practice in Nabarro’s Manchester office and has advised on some of the most high-profile UK projects in a range of sectors including energy, transport and waste. Notably Chris has worked on major new nuclear and decommissioning projects in the UK and overseas, rail infrastructure projects including Crossrail, and Europe’s largest municipal waste scheme in Greater Manchester.

Lucy Plowright, who will join the London office from White & Case, is a senior infrastructure and project finance lawyer. Lucy advises leading sponsors, contractors, lenders and investors on the development and financing of infrastructure projects, PPPs and concessions in the UK and internationally, including in the transport, energy and waste sectors. Recent notable deals include the project bond financed A7 motorway, the first of its kind in Germany.

Commenting on the appointment of Chris, David and Lucy, Steven Williams, co-head of the Infrastructure, Construction & Energy practice, said:
“It is testament to Nabarro’s growing strength in infrastructure and its market-leading reputation for working with the best clients across every aspect of the built environment, that we can attract partners of the calibre of Chris, David and Lucy. These appointments will allow us to capitalise on increased government investment in infrastructure projects including those linked to the Northern Powerhouse initiative and a continued appetite for development in the UK created by demand from international investors.”

Graham Stedman, senior partner at Nabarro, added:
“Investing in our four sectors is a fundamental commitment as part of our strategy. This is proof of that commitment and focus. It also builds on the rapid growth of our Manchester office as a centre for high quality real estate, construction and corporate work and bolsters our ability to win the complex, cross-border work of international infrastructure clients.”
