Jenna Rennie is an English- qualified associate within the Dispute Resolution team at CMS, specialising in Commercial Litigation. She has acted for a wide range of multinational clients, including those in the financial services, energy, space, transport, food and drink and insurance and asset management industries. Jenna advises on general commercial and contracts disputes, company and directors’ duties, professional negligence claims and cyber breach matters. Her work is often cross-border, recently advising clients in Ukraine, US and Kenya.

She regularly provides advice to clients on contractual interpretation and tactical advice regarding on-going contractual relationships.

She acts for clients in English High Court litigation and arbitration disputes under the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Relevant experience

  • A private equity firm in relation to recovering the loss of a multimillion-pound investment to acquire a minority stake in a misrepresented business. Various periphery claims in relation to non-compete provisions, IPO Proceedings, an Insurance Claim and claims against the due diligence providers (commercial, legal and financial).
  • A major global food production and distribution company against allegations of human rights abuses occurring in one of its foreign subsidiaries.
  • A publicly listed Canadian company in dispute with Lux company over the sale of a German enterprise. Dispute related to a breach of warranty claim and potential fraudulent misrepresentation about the true value of the business and the purchase price paid.
  • A private client, engaged with the Defendant’s business of purchasing, restoring and selling classic cars, in claim following the sale of the Defendant’s business for artificially inflating the company’s reported revenue and EBITDA. 
  • The largest independent tyre and autocare retailer in contractual dispute  under the SPA following completion. Claim brought in the High Court and successfully settled pre-trial.
  • The world’s longest standing crypto exchange to recover outstanding debt from customers in Georgia, India and Serbia.
  • An Italian national pension company to recover funds erroneously sent to a customer. 
  • Various Ukrainian businesses looking to enforce judgments against foreign states in England.
  • A charity and advising the Trustees in connection with a multimillion-pound claim against its former CEO for misappropriation of the assets of the charity over 20 year period. Wide scale fraud involving false expenses, unauthorised pension contributions and remuneration and a failed attempt to restructure the group for commercial gain.
  • Foreign exchange brokers in claims against Italian multinational construction company for failure to meet obligations under FX contracts.
  • A US multinational financial technology company operating online payments system in the execution of various settlement agreements with customers.
  • A global trading Company in Canada and its subsidiary against FCA authorised payment services firm in London. Regulatory breaches considered. Mediation commenced.
