HMT/FCA/PRA: Reforming the SMCR
The Government is consulting on legislative changes that aim to reduce regulatory burdens imposed by the SMCR. It includes feedback from the 2023 call for evidence, noting that responses detailed concerns about the compliance burdens and frictions the regime can cause, especially when appointing new executives. Responses are required by 7 October 2025. FCA and PRA have also published a joint consultation, with the same closing date for responses.
