EBA: Risk assessment of the European banking system

EBA’s fifth semi-annual report on risks and vulnerabilities of the EU banking sector has been published. It concludes that there is some improvement in market confidence which has allowed banks to increase their capital levels ahead of the 2014 EU-wide stress test; however, it draws attention to redress costs related to conduct issues and “detrimental business practices of some EU banks” resulting in increased costs.
