Shivam Subhash is a lawyer at CMS and heads the CMS India Desk for Austria. His specialization lies mainly in the area of Banking & Finance as well as Capital Markets. He regularly advises Austrian and international banks and securities firms on financing and capital market transactions as well as on corporate law and, above all, regulatory issues. Furthermore, Subhash supports Indian and Austrian large, mid-sized companies and start-ups in entering European markets as well as Austrian companies in expanding in the Indian market. His network ranges from local Indian market participants to international organizations, venture capital funds and leading advisors to support his clients cross-jurisdictionally.

He also focuses on advising financial technology companies (fintechs) in connection with blockchain and crypto assets. Prior to joining CMS, Subhash worked for other renowned corporate law firms and, during his secondment at Erste Group, was part of the Dealfabrix project team, the first blockchain-based platform for issuing financial instruments in Austria. Subhash has authored numerous publications dealing with the use of decentralised technologies in securities law, focusing mainly on digital financial platforms and the digitalisation of financial instruments of the capital market. In this context, he specialises in civil law, securities law and regulatory issues. 

Born in India, Subhash maintains strong ties to his country of origin, leveraging his deep understanding of the Indian business landscape and culture to provide tailored legal advice. Additionally, his fluency in Punjabi and Hindi allows him to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with Indian entrepreneurs and stakeholders.
