The AI Act proposes a tiered obligation system based on the risk posed by an AI system, with higher-risk systems subject to more rigorous compliance requirements. CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz is committed to keeping you informed of the latest developments regarding the AI Act.

Navigating the AI Act's legislative path

Significant progress has been made in the implementation of the EU AI Act, with several key milestones having been reached. The prohibition of AI systems that pose an unacceptable risk will come into force in February 2025, with the governance rules and obligations for General-Purpose AI (GPAI) becoming applicable in August 2025. Moreover, the commencement of the EU AI Act's application to all AI systems is scheduled for August 2026, with the exception of specific AI systems that are integral components of large-scale IT systems, which will take effect by the end of 2030.
