The Austrian technology M&A landscape has remained active notwithstanding the onset of covid-19. Austria, which is home to numerous high-tech companies that produce both cutting-edge hardware and software solutions, has an information, communication and technology (ICT) sector that generates about 8.6 per cent of total value creation, but with an 'overall production value of €36.6 billion including indirect effects [that] can be assigned to the ICT sector'. 2019 saw the largest amount of M&A transactions in the technology sector with 75 deals, although the total deal value remains relatively small at €700 million.
