CMS Rodríguez-Azuero is pleased to announce Nicole Ríos’s appointment as Partner of the Firm. Nicole currently serves as Associate Director in the Firm’s Tax and Customs & Foreign Trade practices, and her promotion further strengthens the Firm’s ability to support domestic and international clients on strategic tax planning, tax structuring, transfer pricing, foreign trade, and wealth planning matters.
Her appointment reflects a distinguished career, strong academic credentials, and extensive experience advising clients on complex tax, customs, and foreign trade matters, with a practical, business-oriented, and sophisticated approach. Throughout her career, Nicole has advised companies, business groups, individuals, and family groups on the design and implementation of legal strategies to address tax, regulatory, and wealth management challenges in an increasingly demanding environment.
Nicole advises domestic and international clients, including global and multinational companies with operations in Colombia, on tax planning, tax structuring of transactions, tax due diligence, and general tax advisory matters. Today, a significant part of her practice focuses on advising these companies on their tax matters in Colombia, combining deep technical knowledge with a strategic understanding of clients’ commercial priorities. Her experience includes advising on the application of double taxation treaties entered into by Colombia, transfer pricing, BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) matters, and tax issues connected to labor advice, as well as structuring legal solutions in highly complex scenarios.
She is a lawyer from Universidad de los Andes and holds a specialization in Tax Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia, as well as a diploma in Customs Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Over the course of her 15-year career, she has built a recognized practice in Tax and Customs & Foreign Trade, working on significant matters for local and international clients and establishing a reputation for sound judgment, leadership, and execution.
In recent years, through her practice at CMS Rodríguez-Azuero, Nicole has advised both global and multinational companies on their tax matters in Colombia and clients on tax planning and structuring for the efficient management of wealth, the protection of family assets, succession planning, and the implementation of vehicles, foundations, trusts, and other corporate structures, contributing to the continued strengthening of the Firm’s offering in an area of growing importance to the market. Her promotion to Partner reflects not only her professional excellence, but also her commitment to clients, team development, and the Firm’s long-term vision.
