CMS advises BC Partners on sale of synlab Group to Cinven

Stuttgart – Private equity investor Cinven has acquired a majority stake in the Augsburg-based synlab Group. With operations throughout Europe, synlab provides human and veterinary lab services as well as environmental analysis. The vendor is BC Partners, also a private equity investor. Cinven recently acquired French lab service provider Labco.

Several law firms in the CMS network worked together as part of an international team to advise BC Partners on the sale of the synlab Group to Cinven. Private equity firm BC Partners has been advised by CMS Hasche Sigle for many years. The team led by Dr Udo Simmat advised BC Partners back in 2009 on its investment in lab service providers synlab and FutureLAB, in conjunction with several CMS firms. The Group was subsequently restructured under corporate law with support from CMS and significantly enlarged by way of acquisitions.

BC Partners Limited is a European private equity firm headquartered in London, with offices in Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Geneva and New York. Synlab has branches in 23 European countries. In 2014, the company generated sales of around EUR 756 million and had more than 7,000 employees.
