CMS advises Luxcara on acquisition of 172 MW Tramm-Göthen solar park project

04/11/2020

Hamburg – Asset manager Luxcara has acquired the Tramm-Göthen solar park project with a planned total capacity of 172 MW from BELECTRIC. The park is the biggest solar project in Germany not owned by an integrated energy supplier. Located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, construction of the solar park is set to begin this year. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2021. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Holger Kraft and principal counsel Matthias Sethmann advised Luxcara on all legal aspects of the acquisition. This included in particular legal due diligence on the project and support in preparing the acquisition offer and in negotiating and concluding the transaction, construction and management agreements, all within a very short timeframe. CMS has been advising Luxcara on renewable energy projects throughout Europe for many years.

Luxcara is an independent asset manager that provides institutional investors with investment opportunities in the renewable energy and infrastructure space. The owner-managed company was founded in 2009. Luxcara acquires, structures, finances and operates renewable energy investments and infrastructure projects as a long-term investor, focusing on direct power purchase agreements. Luxcara’s portfolio includes solar and wind power plants in Europe with a total output of more than three gigawatts and the company has assets under management in excess of EUR 3 billion. This extensive track record makes Luxcara one of the most experienced asset managers for renewable energy.
