Hamburg – International retail and services company Otto Group has acquired a majority stake in Swiss company Medgate Holding AG. Medgate Holding is a leading provider of digital health services, including medical teleconsulting. As part of the transaction, Medgate Holding is also acquiring BetterDoc GmbH, a German provider of data analysis services for finding the best medical care. The founders of Medgate Holding and BetterDoc GmbH will retain a minority stake in Medgate Holding. Further details of the transaction were not disclosed.
A CMS team headed by Dr Hilke Herchen and Dr Jacob Siebert advised the Otto Group on all legal aspects of acquiring a majority stake in Medgate Holding and on Medgate Holding’s simultaneous acquisition of 100% of the shares in BetterDoc GmbH. This acquisition marks the Otto Group’s targeted expansion of its digital services into digital health.
