With a focus on software copyright, Malte Grützmacher advises and represents IT companies and software users on the legal issues relating to software, AI, personal and non-personal data as well as IT security. His work for software users mainly focusses on IT project and outsourcing agreements. Clients benefit from his profound technical knowledge and IT industry awareness. He has, for instance, long-standing experience negotiating large IT projects and his expertise is also much in demand if troubled projects need to be brought back on track. In this context, he either acts as a coach or court representative, if needed. Malte also defends and protects his clients‘ intellectual property and advises on data law and data protection. Legal industry rankings regularly name him as one of Germany’s top IT lawyers.
Malte started his legal career in 1999 and has been a partner with CMS since 2005. He holds an LL.M. from the University of London’s King’s College, where he specialised in intellectual property, and he is teaching IT contract law at the Leibniz University of Hanover. In 2023 he was appointed honorary professor of the university.
