Berlin, 14.11.2024 – Climate tech start-up Phlair, a pioneer in the field of direct air capture (DAC) CO₂ removal technology, has successfully closed a €14.5 million seed financing round. The round was led by Extantia as lead investor, with participation also from Planet A, Verve Ventures, Atlantic Labs and Counteract, as well as other venture capital funds and business angels.
Phlair, founded in Munich in 2022, is developing a novel and cost-effective DAC technology that makes it possible to capture CO₂ from the air and either store it permanently or use it to produce CO₂-negative chemicals. The funds from this financing round will be used to advance the construction of two first-of-its-kind FOAK plants, each with an annual capacity of 260 tons of CO₂, and lay the foundation for the first large-scale commercial plant, which is expected to capture more than 20,000 tons of CO₂ per year from 2026.
A CMS team led by Dr. Jörg Zätzsch provided Extantia with comprehensive legal advice on this financing round. Investors, start-ups and founders of technology companies regularly rely on the expertise of the Berlin venture capital team.
