Frankfurt/Main – Germany’s Private Health Insurance Association (PKV) has launched the “heal capital” venture capital fund together with Berlin-based digital health investors Heartbeat Labs and Flying Health. The fund has a target size of up to EUR 100 million and the participating PKV member companies have set themselves the goal of boosting the quality of medical care in Germany and promoting digitisation of the German healthcare system. The fund’s focus is on digital health applications, telemedicine, digital prevention and digitisation of nursing care.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Daniel Voigt represented the PKV in relation to the partner companies on all aspects of fund structuring and documentation. The German Federal Ministry of Health officially welcomed the financial commitment of the PKV member companies to innovative, digital health solutions.

Heartbeat Labs and Flying Health are acting as partners of the PKV in managing the fund, with each investing a single-digit million amount.

The Heartbeat Labs digital health platform connects entrepreneurs with technical experts and medical professionals. Heartbeat Labs has established six companies and invested in nine digital health businesses since 2017.

Flying Health has evolved into a leading digital incubator for digital solutions in the healthcare sector since it was founded in 2012. Through targeted partnerships, Flying Health develops digital care models together with well-known players in the healthcare industry.
