Jan Friese’s practice focuses on banking and insolvency law. He is particularly assigned with structuring transactions, negotiating and drafting finance and security documents as well as preparing legal opinions. He is experienced in advising clients in financial distress and impending insolvency of their customers which encompasses negotiating and drafting stand-still and subordination agreements as well as supplementary and amendment agreement to finance and security documents.
In case of insolvency, Jan, advises and represents clients as creditors, negotiating with insolvency administrators, investors and other creditors.
In addition, he is also an experienced litigator, representing his clients in connection with legal disputes and court proceedings.
His clients mainly include German and international credit institutions and financial service providers, such as banks and leasing and factoring companies.
Jan joined CMS in April 2011 as associate and was made counsel in 2017. Having worked on secondment at CMS Amsterdam and in the legal department of a Dutch credit institution, he has special expertise advising on cross-border German-Dutch/Dutch-German assignments.
