Cologne – The European subsidiary of Japanese CNC machine tool maker Okuma has fully acquired Hommel CNC Technik GmbH (HCT) from the Hommel Group, together with its 100-plus employees. The parties agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price.
A CMS team headed by Dr Malte Bruhns advised Okuma Europe GmbH on all legal aspects of the carve-out transaction. The current HCT headquarters in Cologne will be used as the primary location for Okuma’s restructured sales and service operations in Germany.
Japan-based Okuma describes itself as one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of CNC machine tools, CNC control units, automation technology and servo motors. The company has more than 3,000 employees worldwide.
The Hommel Group celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2016. With a workforce of several hundred employees, it is one of the largest consulting, sales and service companies for machine tools in Germany.
