Insurance lawyer Thomas Maur has special expertise in insurance contract law and the laws on insurance intermediation. He focuses on insurance distribution, both in terms of direct sales and via insurance intermediaries. Thomas assists his clients with product development and the conceptual design of digital application processes, provides advice for the structuring of distribution models, including cross-border business, and represents his clients’ interests in distribution cooperations. He also advises international insurers on the launch of their products in Germany. His practice furthermore covers the implementation of new regulatory requirements and the regulation of complex claims in Germany and abroad. In this context, he also represents his clients in coverage disputes.

Thomas’ clients include internationally operating groups of insurers as well as insurtech start-ups, commercial and industrial policyholders and distributors of insurers, especially in the area of e-commerce and the digital business.

Thomas joined CMS in 2014 and has been a partner since 2023.
