Helen Tomblin

Secretarial Services Manager

Why did you choose CMS?

I joined CMS through Cameron Markby Hewitt 25 years ago. This was at a time when we didn’t have the internet, email or smart phones and jobs were found by visiting recruitment agencies. I think its therefore fair to say that CMS chose me as I had no prior knowledge of Cameron Markby Hewitt and at the time I was just looking for a new challenge, the vacancy came up and I was lucky enough to get the job.

What has been a highlight in your work so far?

There’s been a few – being the unofficial “office manager” for the IRG Leadenhall Street office and the many challenges that presented; being a part of the first team to go open plan when IRG moved to Leadenhall Street – I wasn’t initially a fan but after a few months loved it and witnessed first hand how it broke down barriers; managing a group of Secretaries who are so willing to help out across teams/offices when I am in panic mode!

How has CMS helped with your career development?

I’ve always been someone who has volunteered and asked for the opportunity to broaden my skills and knowledge and I’ve been really lucky to work for Partners who have supported this and it has taken me from my position as Legal Secretary in the IRG team at Sceptre Court, through to Secretarial Services Manager based in Sheffield, looking after our 5 regional offices.

3 words to describe life at CMS?

Busy, supportive, challenging (in a good way).
