It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our partner and dear friend, Nigel Lewis.
Nigel joined CMS in 2017 and was a highly respected and deeply admired partner, leading the firm’s Infrastructure, Construction, and Energy (ICE) Disputes team in Manchester. Known for his expertise and dedication to his clients and team, Nigel epitomised professionalism, and his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.
Nigel was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in August 2022. The severity of his condition, with the cancer having spread to his liver, presented an incredibly daunting challenge. Despite this, Nigel’s bravery in facing his illness, through all his treatments and right to the end, was nothing short of inspirational.
Our thoughts are with Nigel’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Across CMS, we mourn his loss and reflect on the impact he made, both professionally and personally. Nigel’s life, though tragically cut short, was one filled with remarkable achievements, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
