Part-Qualified Patent Attorney in the Glasgow Office. James joined CMS in January 2025 after 3 years at a regional firm based in Glasgow. Experience drafting and prosecuting UK and European Patent Applications through to grant. Areas of expertise include software, computer-implemented inventions, mechanical inventions, physics, medical device, materials science, etc.

Prior to joining the profession, he completed a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a focus on biomaterials. His mixed background and experience prosecuting a wide array of technologies have allowed him to efficiently communicate with clients and associates with varying backgrounds.
