FCA: FS25/4: Design of the Future Entity for UK open banking.

08 Aug 2025 (UPDATED: 13 Mar 2026) United Kingdom 1 min read

This FS follows a JROC policy paper which set out proposals for the design of the future entity for UK open banking.  FCA notes that there has been a significant progress in open banking over the last year and states that it wants to build upon that momentum.  The new body will run a commercial scheme designed to enable the rollout of variable recurring payments in 2025.  This aims to unlock a series of open banking use cases, including household bills.  Subject to future legislation, it is expected that the Future Entity to be the primary standard-setting body for open banking application programming interfaces in the UK.  Ahead of legislation, FCA will work with participants across the sector to quickly establish the Future Entity and will hold a series of workshops with industry over the summer and into autumn to inform its approach. Following this series of workshops, FCA expects to say more on how the Future Entity will be established by the end of the year.
