Abuse of Significant Market Power

Back to Antitrust, Competition and Trade

We assist our clients in various claims against abuses of significant market power, a special regime introduced by the Hungarian commercial act and enforced by the Hungarian Competition Authority. In Hungary, there are several practices that high-revenue retailers are forbidden from using against their suppliers. Additionally, in the HoReCa segments, the commercial act bans exclusivity agreements between HoReCa outlets and high-revenue distributors for certain product categories.

Within these regimes, we advise various clients in their day-to-day operations to avoid claims. We have also successfully represented a large retailer and a large HoReCa chain in the abuse of significant market power cases before the Hungarian Competition Authority.
